Withania Somnifera grows as a short shrub with a central stem from which branches extend radially in a star pattern covered with a dense matte of wooly hairs. The leaves are bowl shaped, small and without thorns. The flowers bloom from the base of the leaves, are small and green, while the ripe fruit is orange-red and has milk-coagulating properties. The seeds are small, heart shaped, smooth and flat. The plant has long, brown, tuberous roots.
